Dog Fouling Act 2003

People enjoy keeping dogs and the majority of owners are responsible but those who do not clean up after their dogs are creating mess and potential health hazards for other people, including children. Not cleaning up after your dog is unacceptable.

The Dog Fouling (Scotland ) Act 2003 creates an offence for dog owners who do not clean up their dog's mess immediately from a public place and dispose of it properly.

If you witness this type of behaviour then you can contact your local council. There are links to contacts and advice below. If it happens in areas in your estate eg open areas, common closes, etc then let the Estates Team know too so that we can work together with the local councils to tackle the problem
